When Seacoast Collegiate High School outgrew its classrooms, the Seaside School Foundation turned to storytelling to fuel its next chapter. A 2023 Marketing Grant from the J.W. Couch Foundation helped bring their vision for an expanded campus and innovative dual-enrollment program to life through a powerful campaign video.
Inside a bustling classroom along Florida's Emerald Coast, a high school junior closes her laptop after finishing a college-level chemistry assignment. Down the hall, a senior reviews notes for an exam that will earn him credit toward an associate degree — all before he's received his high school diploma. This is daily life at Seacoast Collegiate High School, where the line between high school and college has been beautifully, intentionally blurred.
But the very success of that model had created a new challenge: the school was running out of room.
A Story Worth Sharing
When the Seaside School Foundation's leadership first sat down with us, one truth became immediately clear — they had a story worth sharing. Their classrooms, filled with dedicated teachers and driven students, were reaching capacity. Their groundbreaking full-time dual enrollment partnership with Northwest Florida State College was pushing the school beyond its physical and curricular limits. To grow, they needed a new campus. To build a new campus, they needed their community to see the vision.
At the J.W. Couch Foundation, we believe stories have the power to reshape possibilities and ignite change. So when Seacoast asked for support to launch a campaign video, we recognized this was about more than producing a piece of media. It was about amplifying a vision — one designed for a growing community of learners and new educational pathways that redefine what high school can be.
Uniquely Positioned to Lead
Few organizations are as uniquely positioned to reimagine secondary education as the Seaside School Foundation. Founded in 2008 in Santa Rosa Beach, the Foundation exists to steward long-term resources for The Seaside School, Inc., ensuring its mission can flourish in perpetuity.
In 2013, that mission expanded dramatically. Seacoast Collegiate High School was founded to extend the original charter, welcoming the ninth-grade class from Seaside Neighborhood School as its inaugural freshmen. Rather than mirror a traditional high school model, Seacoast's leaders chose a different path — one shaped by research, community input, and a clear-eyed understanding of an increasingly competitive landscape for college and career readiness. The partnership with Northwest Florida State College was born, allowing students to earn college credits in their junior and senior years and graduate with an associate degree alongside their diploma.
Even the school's name reflects that connected vision. Chosen by the students of Seaside Neighborhood School themselves, Seacoast preserves the first three letters — SEA — that tie both campuses together as one community committed to academic and social success.
By 2016, Seacoast graduated its first senior class. Every student walked away with both a diploma and an associate degree. Every student was accepted to college.
Turning Vision into Momentum
The 2023 Marketing Grant brought this remarkable story into focus through a campaign video designed to invite parents, supporters, and the wider community into the school's future. The video captures more than blueprints and bricks and mortar. It illustrates carefully planned classrooms, labs, and collaboration spaces — and a more robust dual-enrollment curriculum that prepares students to step confidently into higher education and meaningful careers.
Building What Comes Next
Storytelling, at its best, is an invitation. The Seaside School Foundation has accepted that invitation on behalf of every student who will one day walk Seacoast's halls — and every family who will discover that high school can be the launchpad for something far greater. We are proud to stand alongside them as they continue to redefine what's possible, one story, one student, and one bold new chapter at a time.
